Our services

We provide a welcoming day service for adults aged 18–65 with complex needs to our  purpose-built centre based in Acocks Green, Birmingham. Our person centred approach ensures that each individual receives support tailored to their abilities, interests, and goals.

Our service is built on equality, inclusion, and partnership We support adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and mental health needs. Every person is treated as a unique individual, with their own aspirations and preferences.

What a typical day looks like

Life at The Ark Centre is structured yet flexible, ensuring individuals feel supported while still having choice and independence. Each day is tailored around the needs, interests, and abilities of those attending.

Participants are encouraged to take part in activities they enjoy, try new experiences, and work toward personal goals at their own pace. Support is provided in a calm, positive environment where routines create stability, and flexibility allows individuals to explore and grow.

Our facilities

Our purpose-built centre operates across three connected buildings, designed to support wellbeing, learning, relaxation, and social interaction.

 

Facilities include:

  • Multi-sensory room for sensory regulation and relaxation

  • Cinema room for entertainment and social engagement

  • Hydrotherapy pool and relaxation tub for physical wellbeing

  • Arts and crafts areas to encourage creativity

  • Computer and learning spaces to develop digital skills

  • Large outdoor garden with seating, play equipment, and social spaces

  • Fully accessible toilets and entrances

Activities & experiences

We offer a wide range of activities to support learning, independence, wellbeing, and enjoyment. Activities are adapted to suit individual abilities and are regularly reviewed to remain meaningful.

Activities include:

  • Arts, crafts, and creative workshops

  • Music therapy and sensory-based sessions

  • Cookery and independent living skills

  • Computer classes and learning activities

  • Community access: shopping, cafés, gyms, local walks

  • Social groups, celebrations, and themed events

  • One-to-one or two-to-one support where needed

  • Life book and reflection therapy

  • Regular day trips to zoos, farms, parks, theatres, and museums
